On uk site - I get no recall for my VIN number.

I was told mine was a 2010 build, when I bought it.

Taking my Bird in today for the recall. Seems there is more then one. There is Service Recall #423 to replace the fender bolts. There is also Service Recall #424 to replace the screws that hold the ABS module.

UPDATE!
Well, I'm back from having my dealer do the fender bolt recall and ABS modulator recall. 3 HOURS to replace 7 bolts. 4 on the front fender and 3 for the ABS module. No wonder their service department is backed up with work.

I did have the mechanic show me the old and new bolts for the recall. No one there could tell the difference.

While I was there I had them take pictures of my sagging saddle bags. They are going to submit it to Triumph so I have to do a WAIT AND SEE on that one.

I'll keep you all posted.

As it turns out, this is NOT a recall but 2 service bulletins. My bike is a 2010 and was still due in for the service (recall) of the fender screws. It has nothing to do with the rubber washers on the mounting points. When I had mine done, I went back to the shop to see what was being changed. The only difference between the new screws and the original screws is the type and amount of Loktite applied to them from the factory. We laid the old and new screws side by side and that's the only difference. The other service bulletin was to change the ABS module screws. Again. the only difference was the Loktite on them. The service tech said that from what he has seen so far they are doing ALL bikes regardless of date of manufacture.

The manufacturer of the bolts changed the coating, which inturn affected the setting of the loctite. Apparently.

I just got my recall last week. Got warranty OK for my bags, chrome issues on valve covers. Guess they can do my recall when they change my valve covers out.

Drove to the dealer without front fender, he entered 'done' in the system, took me 2 minutes time

I reckon they only do things like this to get us back to our dealer to buy things whilst we wait for it to be fixed!

My letter came in a couple of days ago even though my bike was one of the first if not actually the first sold in the USA, and the VIN is clearly numbered way before the numbers listed on the recall. Maybe their U.S. lawyers advised them to change all the fittings to avoid liability problems?

I love their bikes but they do things in strange and mysterious ways. I think they hold their corporate meetings at Stonehenge and make a human sacrifice of anyone that comes up with a logical idea. Was someone at Triumph the one to suggest driving on the opposite side of the road from everyone else?

He hasn't posted since last year. I wonder if he still has his Tbird.

Greetings EnGage - yes, I still have my Tbird and still lovin it. My apologies for not being active on the boards; I feel somewhat anti-social. I've spent a great deal of the last year overseas and when I am in the States, my time is consumed with my two kids and massive "honey do" lists.

I got my recall letter just yesterday and thought I'd check the boards to see if there was any chatter about it. In reading the threads, it seems some got recall notices over a month ago. I'm reluctant to take mine to the dealer who screwed it up in the first place. I'll probably take her to the Triumph dealer over in Camps Springs (near Andrews AF Base), it's closer to me anyway.

Have you worn that merkin out yet?

Best Regards,

Don

Got my letter in yesterday's mail as well. But, I already knew my bike was on the list... found out when I scheduled my 6K service. The dealer will replace the fender bolts when I get the service done this Saturday.

Welcome back Hyper Long time, no see. Did you ever pick up the Bonneville for your son?

I got my letter two days ago and, like feduke, I have one of the first bikes sold so I take it Triumph have decided to recall more bikes.

However, I was at my dealer two Saturdays ago to pick up gloves and the Service Manager wanted to check me off his list, so they replaced my on the spot, i.e., it was fixed before I got the letter

finally got my letter but had this recall done last month, dealer was well aware and did with no charge.

again if you have the touring seat get the replacement btackets for the standard seat bracket recall, just in case you ever want to resell.

I got the letter on the fender fasteners. I checked and they are not rubbing but the tolerance is close. I'm getting near the 11K mile mark, so since there is not an immediate problem I will wait until the 12K service.

Same letter, same VIN numbers here. Dealer in Nor Cal replaced the pan-head screws with - pan head torx screws. Was expecting hex heads, not sure it was much of an improvement..... would be nice to be able to put a wrench on 'em at least.

A hex head would be nice, but the issue was with the original factory-applied locktite. Once installed properly I suspect that triumph doesn't want anyone turning the bolts and breaking the locktite and decided against a hex head.

Just got back into Florida from my summer assignment and picked up my bike. I trailered it to South Florida and was going through the forum and saw the recall. Checked my bolts and 2 were just about touching the tire and 2 were just loose. It would have been a problem for sure. I was able to lift up the front of the bike with an overhead I-beam lift a few inches. I had a 19mm allen wrench for the front axel and it was an easy job. I'm not clear on where the ABS modulator is? Is it he device on the front axel that fits over the left side axel or on the back wheel???

Is it the abs bolt recall that you are refering to? As far as I am aware it is the mounting bolts for the ABS unit that is mounted on or near the swing arm.
